The Plane!

Happy Saturday all!!

This morning I was in group one for the waterfront activities, so I got to dive first :) I've been told you see a lot more in the morning normally, so I was excited! We went to a place called "The Plane" and it was the best dive I've been on yet! The Plane is an actual plane that has crashed here a long time ago. But, when the hurricane hit in 2008 bits and pieces flew everywhere. At the dive site we went to today we were able to look at the wings of the plane, and there was a ton of other debris around from the plane also. It was soooo cool, and it was interesting to see how many organisms have made a home out of it! Inside one of the openings we saw a ginormous crab (literally 2 feet long), and I even saw a few lionfish. Again, there were a ton of barracuda fish, they aren't even that cool anymore lol not unless they are huge, which I did see a huge one (we almost thought it was a shark for a minute!). And, I did see a shark :) It was kind of far away but I was definitely able to see it!! We also saw another Green Sea Turtle, only this time we saw it swimming along the side of us, it was so beautiful! Another cool part of this dive was the drop off. We went to the edge of the wall and just stared down into complete darkness, it was kind of creepy but really tempting to go to at the same time! We weren't allowed to though because it was below 60 feet deep. There was also this really big angel fish that was extremely colorful (purple, orange, green, yellow, and blue). And of course a million other huge and pretty fish! It was a successful dive and I enjoyed every minute of it! :)

After the dive I got my tan on for an hour or so before the community engagement began, which was also very relaxing! Then it was time to teach some English. I taught a lecture on analogies, similes, and metaphors today. There were two people in class and they both caught on pretty well, and they are so appreciative of everything we do. They could not thank me enough :) Once that was over I had to go help clean all four boats that the research center owns. We had to put on our mask, fins, and snorkel to do this because we had to scrub underneath the boats. I thought it was going to take forever but with all of us helping it only took about 20 minutes. Right from washing the boats we began our volleyball competition. It's going to be going on for a week or so because we have six different teams and everyone is going to play everyone once and then the best two teams will battle at the end. My team won today :) It is so much fun, we get so competitive!!! LOL

For tonight we are going out to the hotspot of the town to hang out and eat some good food! There is music playing constantly so I'm sure there will be dancing (even though most of the time it's their culture music), but it will be interesting to see how different it is here! I hope you all have a great rest of your Saturday, and to my family...BE SAFE IN VEGAS, miss you all<3
